The title Les Deux Roses originates from two tributes received by Paolo Grassi in the Rosa & Cactus column of the Sunday newspaper Il Caffè: the first in 2018, after his decision to withdraw from the project for the Losone roundabout, following a situation marked by criticism and political resistance; the second in 2022, on the occasion of the large site-specific work in Cadenazzo, recognized as a new step within the project From “0” to Infinity.
The work therefore carries a meaning closely connected to Paolo Grassi’s artistic biography: on one side, it preserves the memory of a necessary renunciation; on the other, it affirms the continuity of a creative path capable of transforming obstacles, places, and numbers into a public presence.
Les Deux Roses is a monumental site-specific installation by Paolo Grassi on the façade of a residential building in Cadenazzo. Composed of a colorful sequence of numbers — from 5836 to 5843 — the work extends for more than 20 meters along the façade, curving from one corner of the building to the other.
The numerical elements, arranged along a large sculptural arc, create a dynamic visual rhythm that activates the architectural surface and transforms the urban space. Both playful and rigorous, the work confirms the continuity of the conceptual project From “0” to Infinity, in which every number is unique, unrepeatable, and part of an ever-growing universal sequence.
