Birba belongs to the same formal family as Tobia, yet it is not simply a smaller version of it. The sculpture develops the idea of a circular structure made of overlapping numbers, transformed into a physical presence in space, but with a more intimate and concentrated scale.

 

In this smaller bronze work, Paolo Grassi creates an autonomous composition: the numbers are different, the visual rhythm changes, and the internal openings generate new voids and passages of light. The bronze surface, marked by dark patinas, metallic reflections and subtle green traces, reinforces the dialogue between matter, time and memory.

 

The circular base supports a compact numerical constellation, almost like a small vertical organism. Seen from the front, the work appears as a dense and ordered structure; from the side, it reveals depth, thickness, shadows and overlapping layers. Birba therefore preserves the conceptual strength of From ‘0’ to Infinity, while bringing it into a more intimate, domestic and contemplative dimension.

Birba appartiene alla stessa famiglia formale di Tobia, ma non ne è una semplice riduzione. La scultura riprende l’idea di una struttura circolare composta da numeri sovrapposti, intrecciati e resi corpo nello spazio, trasformandola però in una presenza più raccolta, mobile e intima.

 

In questa versione di dimensioni minori, Paolo Grassi lavora su una composizione autonoma: i numeri cambiano, il ritmo visivo è diverso, le aperture interne creano nuovi vuoti e nuovi attraversamenti di luce. La superficie bronzea, attraversata da patine scure, riflessi metallici e tracce verdastre, accentua la tensione tra materia, tempo e memoria.

 

 

La base circolare sostiene una costellazione numerica compatta, quasi un piccolo organismo verticale. Vista frontalmente, l’opera appare come una trama densa e ordinata; osservata lateralmente, rivela invece profondità, spessori, ombre e sovrapposizioni. Birba conserva così la forza concettuale del progetto From ‘0’ to Infinity, ma la porta in una scala più vicina, domestica e meditativa.
