 Bad Ragaz is the 163rd Element of Paolo Grassi’s conceptual project From “0” to Infinity. Created in 2012, this aluminium installation was commissioned by the curators of the prestigious Bad Ragartz International Sculpture Triennial—one of the most important open-air exhibitions of contemporary sculpture in Europe.

 

Paolo Grassi was selected among over 4,000 candidates and invited to create a site-specific intervention on a building provided by the organizers. Installed along the main road crossing Bad Ragaz, the work was conceived as a symbolic presence for the entire 5th edition of the Triennial. Using the numeric sequence from 4819 to 4831, the artist transformed the architectural façade into a space of conceptual tension and poetic resonance.

 

With minimal yet deliberate gestures, Bad Ragaz becomes a silent interface between structure and idea, public space and private code. It offers a discreet but powerful reflection on order, vision, and the presence of numbers in the urban landscape.

Bad Ragaz è il 163° Elemento del progetto concettuale From “0” to Infinity di Paolo Grassi. Realizzata nel 2012, questa installazione in alluminio è stata commissionata dai curatori della prestigiosa Triennale Internazionale di Scultura Bad Ragartz—una delle più importanti esposizioni a cielo aperto di scultura contemporanea in Europa.

 

Grassi è stato selezionato tra oltre 4.000 candidati e invitato a realizzare un intervento site-specific su un edificio messo a disposizione dagli organizzatori. Installata lungo la strada principale che attraversa Bad Ragaz, l’opera è stata concepita come presenza simbolica dell’intera 5ª edizione della Triennale. Attraverso la sequenza numerica dal 4819 al 4831, l’artista ha trasformato la facciata architettonica in uno spazio di tensione concettuale e risonanza poetica.

 

 

Con gesti minimi ma intenzionali, Bad Ragaz diventa interfaccia silenziosa tra struttura e idea, spazio pubblico e codice privato. Un’opera discreta ma potente, che riflette su ordine, visione e presenza dei numeri nel paesaggio urbano.
